The self-employed Persons Program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person. If you’re interested in this program, you must:

  • have relevant (at least two years of experience) experience in cultural activities or athletics
  • be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada as a self-employed in Canada
  • meet the program’s selection criteria - education, age, language, and ties to canada
  • meet medical, security and other conditions
Cultural activities include jobs generally seen as part of Canada’s artistic and cultural fields. Examples include authors and writers, creative and performing artists, musicians, painters, sculptors and other visual artists, technical support and other jobs in motion pictures, creative designers and craftspeople.
Athletics include athletes, coaches, sports officials and referees and program leaders and instructors in recreation, sport and fitness.
